Adventure & Sports

Gozo is a small island with marvellous landscape and a rich history providing many wonderful experiences for the rambler. From peaceful country and hill walks to rambles along cliff-tops with panoramic views; from coastal paths past extraordinary natural features to heritage trails through the alleyways of the Knights of St John or the unique prehistoric landscape, there is something for everyone.

Between autumn and late spring, Gozo’s countryside bursts into life revealing an incredible wealth of flora and fauna – particularly colourful wild flowers and scented herbs. With a temperate Mediterranean climate where sun and warmth are the norm even in winter, Gozo is perfect for an out-of season walking holiday.

A perfect playground for outdoor activities

Despite being a tiny island, Gozo offers a variety of outdoor activities and things to do so you’ll never get bored, making it more than just a daytrip destination.

Water Sports

For lovers of water activities Gozo is an absolute paradise. For starters, it is probably the best place in Europe for scuba diving with jaw-dropping sites suitable for everyone, from novice to expert.

The best snorkeling sites include San Dimitri Point in western Gozo, Wied il-Għasri in northern Gozo and the famous Blue Hole at Dwejra, a 25-metre deep hole that connects with the sea eight metres down through a submerged arch. For colourful sea life try Reqqa Point in northern Gozo or Xatt L’Aħmar in southern Gozo.

Kayaking, boat rides, jet skis and stand-up paddleboarding are also superb ways to see and appreciate the beautiful Gozo coast.

Cycling

The island also has a lot to offer the cyclist. Mountain biking is at its best in Gozo in the months from October to May, when temperatures are mild and the island is a lush green carpet of wildflowers and scented herbs.

Rock Climbing & Abseiling

Rock climbing and abseiling are also popular sports in Gozo. From stunning sea cliffs to shady inland crags, you’ll find a climb that best suits your experience.

Tours

A full-day jeep safari is one of the best-rated tours in Gozo which allows you to explore the hidden gems of the island stress-free.

On these all-day tours, you get picked up and led by a guide, and lunch is usually included in the price. There are many other tour options; whether it’s with a segway or a quadbike, you’re guaranteed a fun time.

Walks in Gozo

If the above does not appeal to you, you might want to get walking instead. In Gozo, we’re lucky that a good walk is never far, and the views are often spectacular.
