The Rossall School Chapel Choir from the UK will be visiting the Maltese Islands between the 2nd and 3rd July 2018, since its foundation in 1844, The Rossall School has always taken pride in its strong choral tradition. Today the Chapel Choir boasts over forty choristers of no less than seven nationalities who join together three times a week to rehearse. The choir enjoys singing a diverse repertoire from show music to gospel, but it is in the sacred genre that the choir really excels. Every term the choir sings choral Evensong in cathedrals across the country including York, Chester, Lincoln and Durham and performs an oratorio with full orchestra, the last few being Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Mozart’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Brahms’ German Requiem, Faure’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah. The highlight of the year is the annual tour which has given the students experience performing in cathedrals across Europe; Notre Dame, Chartres, Barcelona, Montserrat. In Malta the choir will perform two concerts the first will take place at the Discalced Carmelite Friars, St. Teresa’s Monastery Church, Cospicua (Bormla) on Monday 2nd July 2018. While on Tuesday 3rd July 2018 the choir will be performing a sacred concert at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Church, Fontana Gozo. Both events start immediately after the service will end at approximately 7.15pm. The General Public is invited to attend.
