Salt harvesting is done only during the summer period i.e. from the month of May/ June till the end of August/September always depending from the weather.

The salt is produced from natural elements such as sun, wind and the evaporation of sea water. Xwejni salt is collected manually with a lot of care and attention following traditional methods. A lot of laborious and intensive work is involved. It is purely natural and genuine.

While visiting Xwejni Salt pans, the Cini Family will be always on site eager to welcome visitors. The family will explain and show the visitors how salt is harvested and produced and during the summer months one might view the salt harvesting. It is free of charge and one can taste and buy this Gozitan authentic natural raw material.
